Armi de tomat is a typical old school Sephardic Jewish dish. It's tomato based and has its flavor mostly from parsley and pepper. It is very easy to make yet very tasty. You can have it as a starter or as a side dish with your meat or tofu. And like some of the Sephardic dishes it gets its texture from accompanying it with rice. Without further ado.

Yields: 2- 4 servings

Five tomato, we will blend it and make the juicy red sauce :)
One onion, diced
Two charleston hot peppers, diced
1/2 bundle of parsley, chopped
2 tsp Sugar
1 tsp Salt
1/2 cup of rice

  1. Sauté onions and pepper in a pan.
  2. Add rice and 2 TBSP of sunflower oil and keep cooking for a few minutes.
  3. Add in the blended tomatoes, stir it for a few minutes. Then squeeze in half-a lemon. Rice will cook in tomato juice, do not add water.
  4. Cook while stirring for 20-25 min , during this time the excess tomato water will evaporate.
  5. Serve warm or cold.

AFİYET OLSUN! (Bon a'petit in Turkish)
